Fibertex Personal Care, a Danish textile company planning its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Randolph County by December 2021 for which they will make investment to the tune of $60 million, Governor Roy Cooper announced on Monday.
Fibertex Personal Care makes a variety of products including diapers, feminine hygiene and incontinence care products. It has 600 employees at facilities in Denmark, Malaysia and Germany.
Mikael Staal Axelsen, group CEO of Fibertex Personal Care, said that the new factory, which will be located in Asheboro, will cover the markets of North and South America, which are very important for their expansion.
They expect fine growth rates within their niche, and therefore, the factory will need to be operational by the end of 2018 and add 145 jobs.
They are very pleased with the cooperation with North Carolina and Randolph County about this project, and look forward to being a part the community in Asheboro.
The project has been facilitated in part by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), which authorizes the potential reimbursement to the company of up to $1.96 million spread over 12 years.
It was made possible by several organizations including the N.C. Commerce Department and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina Railroad Company, the City of Asheboro, Randolph County, the Randolph County Economic Development Corp., Duke Energy and Norfolk Southern.
