Eurofins Sustainability Services has introduced Origin ID, a new cotton origin verification tool designed to boost supply chain transparency for industries including apparel, home textiles and personal hygiene.

The system builds on Eurofins’ patented isotope testing technology, originally developed to verify the origin and purity of food and beverages, enhanced with additional bio-analytical methods tailored for cotton fibers.

The service offers an end-to-end solution, from sample collection to testing and reporting, with results compared against a proprietary reference library. A match confirms alignment with the target country’s database profile, while also noting possible consistency with other regions.

The launch comes as cotton traceability grows increasingly important, especially with the EU tightening regulations on supply chain due diligence. Isotopic testing is now widely accepted by regulators as a reliable way to confirm cotton origin.
