Eurofins Softlines & Leather and Eurofins GeneScan announced that for their Organic Cotton Identification Services, they have earned global recognition. The proficiency test was organized by Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Textile Exchange, and the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA). For GMO-testing in the cotton supply chain, ISO/ IWA 32:2019 is the globally recognized standard that is developed by GOTS, Textile Exchange, and OCA.
The world’s leading GMO-testing laboratory of Eurofins- GeneScan is located in Freiburg, Germany, participated in the initial workshop for this standard, which had gained in GMO analysis of cotton and textiles using valuable insights and experience over several years.
It is essential to verify the absence of synthetic pesticides and hazardous chemicals along with the use of conventional non-GMO lines in the farming practice for cotton to be regarded as organic. Eurofins’ Organic Cotton Identification Services offers testing solutions for both.
Eurofins GeneScan has carried out the GMO testing according to ISO/ IWA 32:2019 and has analyzed over 250 hazardous chemicals along with 200 pesticides and are delivered by the Eurofins Softlines & Leather Technical Competence Centre in Alicante, Spain.
