Euratex's ReHubs partners with key industry players to Boost textile recycling

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-12-13 16:42:04 – Belgium

ReHubs, an initiative by the European Apparel and Textile Industry (Euratex), has officially welcomed its inaugural industry partners, including renowned Spanish fashion companies like Inditex and Mango. This collaborative effort aims to boost textile recycling capacity across Europe.

The General Assembly on December 1, 2023, marked a significant moment as 18 European companies and organizations formally joined ReHubs. These partners, representing various segments of the circular textile value chain, share a common commitment to investing in textile recycling capacity within Europe.

All ReHubs partners will actively collaborate to support Chris Deloof, the executive director of ReHubs, in initiating activities in the upcoming months. The focus is on defining the next steps, shaping the work plan, and contributing to the development of the European Textile Recycling Roadmap.

Responding to impending EU legislation mandating the compulsory collection and sorting of textile waste by 2025, ReHubs Europe, a new international non-profit organization, was launched in collaboration with Euratex in October. Based in Brussels, it operates in close partnership with Euratex, offering membership to any companies interested in investing in textile waste recycling in Europe.

Chris Deloof expressed delight in the strong collaboration, emphasizing the need to establish a robust circular textile value chain in Europe. The partners aim to roll out ReHubs investment projects while also expanding their network of partners and investors. ReHubs anticipates additional partners to join in the future, welcoming companies to become part of the initiative at any time.
