Ethical fashion brand Aspiga receives B Corp status

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-08-26 16:12:06 – United Kingdom

Ethical women's and menswear fashion brand, Aspiga, is the latest recipient of the B Corp designation.

B Corps, of which there are more than 4,500 worldwide, are subjected to strict evaluations that track progress in five impact areas: community, environment, employees, and governance.

Lucy Macnamara, founder and CEO of Aspiga, said that Aspiga began with the simple notion that fashion and commerce can exist to enhance lives, pull people up, and conserve and safeguard the natural environment.

Macnamara added that they’re overjoyed to receive the B-Corp designation. It's critical to demonstrate the power of business and fashion as a force for good now more than ever. With this recognition and success, their job is not finished; they will continue to step up their efforts to show that purpose-led business can and should be the future they envision.

Aspiga was founded in 2006 by Macnamara and debuted with a small line of sandals from Kenya created by regional artisans. It developed into a resortwear fashion brand and is now a full-fledged label range that includes dresses, T-shirts, jumpers, accessories, shoes, and menswear. Aspiga is still making goods in India and Kenya with integrity.

The brand expanded into wholesale last year and is now carried online by Next and Anthropologie. Aspiga presently has seven UK locations and one overseas after opening five new stores in the UK this year.
