Elevate Textiles expressed its support for the Business Ambition for 1.5°C Campaign by adding on its previous commitment to the Science-Based Targets project (SBTi).
Elevate and its brands, which include American & Efird (A&E), Burlington, Cone Denim, Gütermann, and Safety Components, continue to affirm and advance their commitment to setting science-based emissions reduction targets across the entire value chain that are consistent with keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Elevate has also set a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Elevate Textiles' chief sustainability officer, Jimmy Summers, said that Elevate is delighted to be among leading firms that have committed to establishing science-based carbon reduction objectives and are taking action to move towards a more sustainable future.
Summers added that it is becoming increasingly important for business leaders to fight for a new-zero economy by 2050, and they are actively engaging in global strategic initiatives such as Sustainable Apparel Coalition, SBTi, ZDHC Program, and the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, among others.
The Business Ambition 1.5°C Campaign is an urgent call to action for businesses to establish emissions reduction targets that keep global warming to 1.5° Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The SBTi is leading the campaign in collaboration with the UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business group.
Elevate became a member of the SBTi in 2019. CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature collaborate on SBTi. The SBTi establishes and supports best practices in science-based target setting, as well as evaluating firms' targets independently. Elevate stated that it is currently developing and validating its SBTi goals.
Elevate and its portfolio brands provide products for industries such as fashion and functional apparel, footwear, military, fire, medical, athletic, automotive, aerospace, and outdoor with a global array of premium fabric and thread solutions focused on innovation, sustainability, and quality craftsmanship.
