The Spanish fashion and lifestyle brand ECOALF has launched a recycled loafer collection in collaboration with multinational tire and footwear soles manufacturer Michelin.
In the partnership, both the companies have worked together to utilize the rubber that would otherwise be wasted in the production of Soles by Michelin in creating a shoe sole made from the waste rubber.
The footwear’s knitted fabric upper is then produced from a mix of 30% polyester and 70% ‘Ocean Yarn.’ As part of the company’s Upcycling the Oceans project, ECOALF collected the plastic bottles collected from the bottom of the ocean, which was then used to develop a recycled material called ‘Ocean Yarn.’
ECOALF said that each pair of the unisex loafers contain 5 bottles and cost around 99.90 euros.
These loafers also come in Ecoalf’s newly-developed packaging which is produced using 100% recycled cardboard along with a 100% recycled polyester strap.
