Eastman's Naia™ Renew staple fiber adds functionality to sustainable textiles

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-12-04 16:48:17 – USA

Eastman has launched Naia™ Renew staple fiber, expanding its fiber offerings and emphasizing sustainability. This new staple fiber is produced from sustainably sourced wood pulp and recycled waste materials, boasting a complete biodegradable profile in all environments. Eastman envisions Naia™ Renew staple fiber as a versatile addition to fabric blends, offering softness, comfort, moisture management, breathability, dry rates, and pilling improvement.

Eastman aims for Naia™ Renew staple blends to constitute 30 to 50 percent of the entire fabric content. The fiber can be blended with different materials such as recycled polyester, modal, and lyocell, providing functionality like sweat and odor management, versatility in dyeing, circularity, quick-drying, longevity, and a super-soft hand. The focus is on elevating the comfort and performance of garments across a range of applications.

Naia™ Renew staple fiber caters to everyday casual wear and athleisure, adding a fresh, soft hand to garments. Consumers have praised the fiber's comfort, describing it as "super comfy" and noting a "buttery" feel. Eastman is also targeting the bedding industry, introducing Naia™ Renew staple fiber in sheets and bedding to enhance moisture-wicking performance, provide cozy comfort, and ensure a restful sleep experience. The fiber maintains its quality, appearance, and performance even after multiple washes.
