Dimension-Polyant expands fabric collection with X-Pac® VX Line

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-08-31 16:38:03 – Germany

Dimension-Polyant, a major producer of sailcloth worldwide and creator of durable and waterproof X-Pac® laminates used for bags and packs, has expanded its sustainable fabric range by introducing the popular X-Pac® VX line. This fabric collection has received certification as climate-neutral from cradle-to-gate and bears the cleenTEC® seal of Dimension-Polyant.

The new environmentally friendly X-Pac® VX collection is constructed with four layers, offering durability and flexibility while being fully waterproof. These fabrics include Dimension-Polyant's patented X-PLY® fiber reinforcement crafted from recycled post-consumer PET. The VX fabrics have a lightweight taffeta backing also made entirely from recycled post-consumer PET, providing better stitch-hold. All X-Pac® materials, including VX fabrics, are manufactured in Dimension-Polyant's Putnam, CT facility, which is entirely climate-neutral.

The X-Pac® VX fabrics are certified with Dimension-Polyant's cleenTEC® seal, which ensures their climate neutrality. This certification signifies that these fabrics contain recycled or bio-based elements and that climate offsets are directly applied to them to enhance their sustainability.

Taylor North, Head of Technical Fabrics at Dimension-Polyant US, stated, "We are pleased to share that almost half of the X-Pac® fabrics now carry the cleenTEC® seal, which marks a 26 percent increase from 2022." North continued by expressing the company's commitment to consistently creating sustainable X-Pac® materials. The company also hinted at an upcoming product launch that would set new standards for eco-friendly performance laminates.

Dimension-Polyant reported that in 2022, cleenTEC®-certified fabrics constituted 68 percent of all X-Pac® fabrics sold, effectively reducing the carbon footprint of their yardage production by 4 percent.

While various textile manufacturers are striving to enhance sustainability by developing recycled fibers, bio-based materials, waterless dyes, and more, achieving 100 percent climate neutrality can be challenging for a company through these efforts alone. Taylor North emphasized that despite the progress made in greening production facilities and materials, there's always more to be done. Dimension-Polyant has established a carbon offset program with ClimatePartner to contribute to tangible environmental improvements in vulnerable areas around the world.
