Designtex launches bio-based coated textiles

Designtex, a company that designs and manufactures applied materials for interior spaces, has launched two new biobased coated textiles, Terrene and Mote. The new designs focus on comfort and human connection, using layered textures, soft visuals and neutral tones to create interiors that feel calm, welcoming and restorative.

Terrene features an asymmetrical striped design built through layered patterns and gentle changes in scale and proportion. Overlapping bands of colour add depth and movement, resulting in a textile that feels both modern and rooted in nature. The design offers a balance between graphic clarity and organic inspiration.

Mote presents a softer, more understated look through a refined solid texture. A structured grid pattern sits on an organic base, creating subtle movement and dimension. This blend of order and irregularity gives Mote a crafted, tactile character that works well across many interior settings. For added flexibility, DS Mote is available through Designtex Digital Studio in six preset colourways and two scale options, suitable for wallcovering, upholstery and multiuse applications.

Sara Balderi, Executive Design Director at Designtex, said the new launches expand the possibilities of biobased coated textiles by combining layered design, everyday comfort and responsible material choices. She noted that the collection allows designers to make sustainable decisions without sacrificing performance or aesthetics.

Both Terrene and Mote are produced without antimicrobials, flame retardants, PFAS, phthalates or PVC. They also meet the criteria of several industry standards and programs, including ASTM D6866 Biobased Content, Healthier Hospitals, LEED, REACH, WELL, GREENGUARD Gold, and do not require a Proposition 65 warning.
