Denim Deal, a European initiative focused on promoting circular practices in denim production, is expanding its efforts to India to strengthen textile recycling. The organization has introduced the India Denim Deal Hub in partnership with the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability Council (GATS) and Enviu Textiles. The new platform aims to speed up the shift towards circular denim in India.
The India Denim Deal Hub will act as a space for cooperation between brands, manufacturers, innovators, recyclers, and policymakers. It will encourage closed-loop denim production and focus on recycling both pre- and post-consumer waste. The hub also plans to create shared infrastructure that will support sustainable and circular solutions.
GATS, a nonprofit led by industry experts, works to promote sustainability, circular practices, and innovation within India’s textile sector. The group especially supports micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, helping them develop circular supply chains, guiding government policy, and offering training in sustainable manufacturing.
Enviu, a Bangalore-based nonprofit, builds ventures that support circular solutions across different industries. Since 2004, it has worked on many projects, including ReTex, which collects old hotel linens and turns them into new recycled and upcycled products.
