Delius pioneers sustainable flame-retardant fabrics

Delius, a renowned textile manufacturer based in Bielefeld, Germany, is setting new benchmarks in sustainable contract fabrics with its EcoSafe collection. Made from OceanSafe’s naNea yarns, these flame-retardant textiles offer biodegradability, recyclability, and non-toxic composition, revolutionizing eco-conscious interior solutions.

NaNea yarns are a breakthrough in synthetic materials, achieving Cradle to Cradle Gold Standard certification. This co-polyester degrades by over 93% in seawater within 99 days, without relying on chemical additives. Unlike conventional synthetics, naNea contains no heavy metals, antimony, VOCs, endocrine disruptors, or phosphorus-based flame retardants, ensuring safety for both users and the environment.

To support circularity, Delius and OceanSafe have developed a take-back system, allowing end-of-life textiles to be recycled into new fibers and yarns. Delius’ contract fabrics also offer high functionality, including darkening effects, acoustic improvements, antibacterial properties, and energy efficiency, making them ideal for modern interiors.
