Outerknown expands Woolaroo collection with recycled fleece

American apparel brand Outerknown has expanded its Woolaroo collection for Fall 2026, introducing fleece garments made with MWool recycled wool from Italian textile manufacturer Manteco. The collection positions recycled wool as a natural alternative to conventional synthetic fleece, offering warmth, softness and breathability without relying on plastic-based fibres.

According to Outerknown, the fleece fabric is made from 100% recycled wool sourced from secondhand garments, factory scraps and other pre- and post-consumer materials. The collection’s colours and patterns are created by blending reclaimed fibres rather than adding new dyes.

John Moore, Outerknown’s co-founder and creative director, said the partnership with Manteco enables discarded wool materials to be transformed into soft, warm and breathable garments while reducing reliance on synthetic fibres.

The expanded Woolaroo range includes jackets, vests, hoodies and shirt jackets. A new addition is the women’s Cocoon Jacket, which features an organic cotton lining and corozo nut buttons. By incorporating recycled wool into a wider range of apparel, the collaboration highlights the potential to reuse existing textile resources in contemporary clothing while offering an alternative to fleece made from conventional synthetic fibres.
