Decathlon, the world’s largest sporting goods retailer, has entered into a global partnership with UK-based materials technology pioneer Rheon Labs, bringing cutting-edge strain-rate sensitive materials to athletes worldwide.
Through the collaboration, Decathlon gains access to Rheon’s full technology platform, covering both existing and future innovations. Rheon’s patented polymer is uniquely engineered to stay soft and flexible during natural movement, while dynamically stiffening in response to motion or impact.
The first product to emerge from the partnership will be the Kiprun running tight, launching in Autumn/Winter 2025, designed to channel energy more efficiently and reduce muscle oscillation. Further developments are already in progress across multiple Decathlon brands, including Domyos fitness, with initial launches planned for 2026.
“Decathlon’s belief that innovation should serve everyone aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Stephen Bates, CEO of Rheon Labs. “Rheon began in elite sport, but this partnership ensures the same level of performance technology reaches millions more athletes at every level.”
