French sporting goods retailer, Decathlon, has partnered with fashion rental platform Hirestreet to enter the UK rental industry for the first time.
On Hirestreet, Decathlon will launch an exclusive 18-style edit of ski and outerwear, including ski and hiking jackets as well as women's pants.
Prices start at £15 for a four-day rental period, and sizes range from 6 to 16. Through this partnership, the rental platform will be expanding into the sports and activewear sector.
Isabella West, Founder and CEO of Hirestreet, said that demand for rental apparel soared in 2021, and customers are now eager to lease pieces for more than just formal events. Renting ski gear makes a lot of sense for many of us who ski infrequently: it's expensive, bulky to store, and rarely used.
West added that Decathlon has been a market leader in sportswear for decades, and they share similar principles in making apparel - whether sportswear or fashion - accessible to everyone while also being environmentally conscious. They're thrilled to be working with Decathlon on their first rental collection in the United Kingdom.
Sharon Poulter, Rental Manager at Decathlon, said that renting their textile items is a new endeavor for them, and one that they're excited to be sharing with Hirestreet. It's another way they're making the sport more accessible - through convenience, affordability, and flexibility - while also lowering their environmental effect. They started with renting ski gear, but they plan to expand their offering in the future to make becoming active even easier and more sustainable.
