Deakin University in Australia has collaborated with textile technology firm Xefco to establish a test manufacturing site. This facility will be utilized to research and experiment with Xefco's novel plasma-based technique for applying dyes and coatings to textiles. The aim is to examine if this new method, which uses no water, can be a sustainable alternative to the traditional and water-intensive processes often utilized in the textile industry.

Funding for this initiative comes through Deakin’s Recycling and Clean Energy Commercialisation Hub (REACH), with support from the Australian Government’s Trailblazer Universities Program.
