DAK Americas to increase the PSF production capacity at it Cooper River facility

DAK Americas is one of the largest integrated producers of PET resins in the world and the main producer of polyester staple fibers in the Americas. As part of its expansion plan, DAK Americas LLC (DAK) has announced a project to increase the polyester staple fiber (PSF) production capacity at its Cooper River site near Charleston, S.C.

The project will increase the capacity of the Cooper River facilitiy by 55 million pounds per year (lbs/year) across the company's current product line of textile and nonwoven PSF offerings.

Phase one of the expansion is targeted to be complete in March/April 2015. The timing of Phase two of the expansion will be evaluated shortly thereafter. Upon completion of these expansions, DAK's total PSF capacity in NAFTA will be approximately 500 million lbs/year.

Jorge Young, DAK President and CEO said that they are excited about increasing the capacity of the facility to meet the needs of their customers. The capacity will serve the growing U.S. fibers market.

DAK Americas is comprised of four business units: Polyethylene Terephthalate Resins (PET), Polyesters Staple Fibers (PSF), Monomers/ ingredients (TPA/PTA), and Specialty Polymers. Sustainability, Innovation and Technology when combined with the technical expertise allow DAK to bring a continuous stream of unique products to the market.
