Culp Home Fashions launches initiative to help homeless

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-02-12 15:56:11 – USA

Culp Home Fashions, the mattress fabric manufacturing division of Culp, Inc., kicked off its inaugural "Spread the Warmth" campaign in January. The initiative involved repurposing leftover mattress fabric into blankets, which were then donated to local charities assisting homeless individuals. Additionally, employees were given the opportunity to contribute by purchasing blankets from an Amazon wish list for direct donation to these charities.

Iv Culp, president and CEO of Culp, Inc., highlighted the company's commitment to sustainability, noting that all U.S. mattress fabric facilities are certified as "Zero Waste to Landfill" facilities. By recycling over 95% of waste materials, including remnant fabric, Culp aims to reduce environmental impact. However, the Spread the Warmth initiative takes this a step further by repurposing remnant material to provide warmth to those in need in local communities.

Teresa Huffman, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, emphasized Culp's dedication to supporting the communities where it operates. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with organizations like Cover the City and the Tennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless, whose charitable efforts make a positive impact. Huffman praised their commitment to making the world a better place and highlighted the significance of Culp's contribution through the Spread the Warmth initiative.
