Cos partners with The Renewal Workshop for Circular Fashion Program

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-08-29 17:07:29 – United Kingdom

In 2022, Cos introduced the Restore program, which is led by a team of circular fashion experts from Bleckmann known as The Renewal Workshop.

After a successful one-year trial period that received positive feedback, the main idea behind this program is to renew clothes using methods that have a smaller impact on the environment. They also use technology to keep track of the process and have experts who are skilled at fixing clothes in a way that's hard to notice.

The team works on making used Cos clothes look and feel like new again. These renewed items are then sold at a lower price in Cos stores all over Europe, including well-known cities like Paris and Amsterdam.

Tamara Zwart, who leads the Renewal team at Bleckmann, said, “Working with Cos is like a real partnership because we both really want to make circular fashion better.”

This new way of doing fashion fits with Cos's plan to use a circular approach. They want to make their products last longer and reduce the amount of clothing that gets thrown away.

The success of the first part of this project means that Cos wants to do more. Francesca Lilley, who is in charge of making sure Cos is sustainable and makes good choices as a brand, said, "As Cos Restore gets bigger, we can make even more old clothes new again. This is a big part of how we do circular fashion."

Cos is committed to this idea, and they've recently started selling renewed Cos clothes in Madrid and Vienna. They're also planning to include clothes that got a little damaged in their stores, as well as items that customers bring in.

One more thing they're doing is Cos Resell. It's a website where people can buy and sell used Cos clothes that have been checked to make sure they're still good.

Francesca Lilley said, "By doing this in more places and with more types of clothes, we can make lots of clothes last much longer."

The Renewal Workshop has been around since 2015 and became part of Bleckmann in 2022. They work to help fashion brands do more circular things in how they do business. They've worked with big brands like The North Face, Carhartt, and New Balance.

Francesca Lilley finished by saying, "Bleckmann’s Renewal Workshop was just right for helping us start and make Cos Restore bigger. We both care about the same things and they're good at what they do."
