Cone Denim collaborates with U.S. hemp innovator BastCore

US-based Cone Denim®, a global company focused on denim authenticity and sustainable innovation is proud to expand its partnership with expert hemp processing innovator, BastCore, following Cone’s recently launched U.S. Hemp Collection.

Cone’s support for American agriculture is growing as a result of this dynamic alliance, which keeps opening up new possibilities for collaboration between like-minded companies and expanding the sustainable denim offerings available to customers.

From their facility in Montgomery, Alabama, BastCore’s inventors manufacture clean, mechanically processed, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and USDA bio-preferred hemp fiber using patent-pending technology and a proprietary technique. BastCore recently received votes from the community and the industry expert committee, and as a result, was chosen as one of the Top 50 Startup Finalists at the WorldFestival 2022 Startup Awards. This global virtual conference promotes technological innovation by bringing attendees from more than 130 countries together to network with the Top 50 Startups of the Year and gain insight from thought leaders in a range of sectors.

Cone Denim President, Steve Maggard, said that Cone is really thrilled to partner together with an industry-recognized firm like BastCore as they expand their goal to give more sustainable, alternative fiber alternatives to their denim community. Their collaboration with BastCore is providing exciting options that promote U.S. agriculture and its utilization of top-notch techniques and sustainably produced goods, with a common objective of pushing new sustainability standards. Cone does not take its role as a pioneer in sustainable innovation lightly, and it is always looking for new ways to work with other companies in the sector to promote innovation, increase traceability and lessen environmental impact.

BastCore CEO. Coleman Beale, said that when BastCore began working with Cone, it was evident to them that they had the skills to build an industry-leading hemp denim product. Cone’s dedication to sustainability, traceability, and support of local farmers here in the United States was equally essential to them.

Recently, Cone and BastCore debuted their U.S. Hemp Collection at the KingPins Amsterdam Show in April and July. The fabrics in this line range from traditional 3-1 and comfort stretch to contemporary workplace constructions. Cone keeps its production operations in Mexico close by utilizing BastCore U.S.-grown hemp as well as other locally sourced materials like natural indigo and U.S. cotton. This helps Cone lessen its environmental impact.

Cone is proud to collaborate with BastCore to incorporate hemp grown in the US and take advantage of its many benefits, including the use of less than half the water compared to cotton, the lack of chemicals, wet processing, pesticides, or herbicides, and high rates of carbon sequestration that improve soil health and the environment as a whole.
