Coach to include regenerative raw materials into future product

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-01-21 11:00:14 – USA

Coach brand owner Tapestry Inc, has formed a new partnership with the Savory Institute’s Land to Market Program, to further improve the sustainability of its own and Coach's supply chain.

The Savory Institute's Land to Market Program dubbed the "first verified sourcing solution for regenerative agriculture," works directly with farmers, ranchers, and other raw material producers using Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV), a scientific protocol that measures land health and verifies whether farmland is in a state of regeneration or degeneration.

The nonprofit Savory Institute collaborated on EOV alongside Michigan State University, Texas A&M University, The Nature Conservancy, and others.

Tapestry & Coach will be able to further reduce its impact on climate change by using regenerative raw materials that have a net positive impact on the environment, promote biodiversity, and result in a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Todd Kahn, CEO and brand president of Coach, said that they’re proud to effect genuine and lasting change for the environment through strategic advancements in their supply chain and new productive solutions. While their Coach (Re)Loved collection gives many of their favorite bags a second chance, this newly launched membership with Land to Market supports grassland restoration and vitality. By continuing to interact with their supplier chain and increasing renewable energy, environmentally preferred materials, and traceability, they are committed to further minimizing their environmental impacts.

EOV monitors the environmental impact of farmers and ranchers making management changes that regenerate their land and gives feedback for continual improvement. As more land is regenerated, more vegetation grows, and more CO2 is removed from the atmosphere, temperature shifts caused by increased carbon in the atmosphere are reduced. In this approach, regenerative agriculture contributes significantly to climate change mitigation.

The Land to Market seal indicates that products come from farms and ranches that have demonstrated excellent environmental effects through EOV. Consumers may be confident that the components in the items they buy have been scientifically proven to heal the environment thanks to the Land to Market seal.

Chris Kerston, co-leader of Land to Market, said that with regenerative agriculture, Land to Market is committed to enhancing the entire ecosystem, which benefits the land, water, air, and animals. Only bold action and collaboration with the corporate community will allow humanity to achieve vital climate goals. Tapestry and Coach have committed to have a good influence on the world by rehabilitating the soil via regenerative agriculture by joining Land to Market.
