Clarks reveals ‘Origin’, most sustainable sneakers to date

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-03-26 13:03:32 – United Kingdom

British, international shoe manufacturer and retailer, Clarks has launched sneakers which they climates to be the most sustainable sneakers to date using less waste and recycled materials.

The Clarks Origin shoes are created without glue and with just 5 pieces, which will allow them to be easily disassembled at the end of their lifecycle.

The shoes have a dual-density footbed that contains 5% recycled rubber, 15% production waste foam EVA, and a responsibly sourced sheepskin liner from tanneries committed to reducing their environmental footprint. The sole of sneakers is made using 51% recycled content while its suede upper is sourced from tanneries with similar commitments.

The shoes are held together with 100% recyclable, mono-material nylon thread, and are finished using 100% recycled polyester laces.

In a release, Tara McRae, the chief marketing officer of Clarks said that in everything they do, Clarks strives to be a sustainable business and it's something which she felt passionate about. They are known for the quality and durability of their shoes which inherently means they support sustainable fashion. But still, they have a lot to work on.

She added that they are on a journey to become more sustainable every day starting from sourcing their sustainable material to supporting better working conditions for the people who make their shoes. One great example of what they can achieve is their brand new shoe ‘Origin’ which is designed for a more sustainable future.
