Chinese global textile manufacturer plans to set up new plant in Travelers Rest

Suzhou Glacier Import & Export Co. Ltd, a Chinese global textile manufacturer plans to set up a new plant in Travelers Rest, it will be the first factory outside of China for the company that will make textiles for the automotive industry.

The company’s president, Wilber Xu, said that the company will be investing $24 million to open a new manufacturing facility in a 170,000 square foot existing building. It is expected to hire 109 people in the new jobs.

Xu said that his company was attracted to Greenville County by low business costs and a good market potential.

The plant at 19 Page Court will be called Cold Mountain Material Corp. and is expected to be fully operational within the next year, according to the state Commerce Department.

Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor said that they look forward to welcoming Cold Mountain Material Corporation into the fold. Score another win for Greenville County’s automotive economy.

The plant will make fabric for automotive interiors, which is the same product made by Greenville-based Sage Automotive Interiors.
