YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2017-03-11 14:00:00 – Lima

This year, Peru's renowned top-quality garments target the Asian market with Peru Moda, the country's leading fashion event, said the Andean nation's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru). Peru Moda Asia 2017, made its first presentation on March 9 in Beijing, China and was a great success. China was the first stop in the Peru Moda tour in Asia. Other clothing fairs will be taking place around the eastern continent until March 17.

Following Asian customs, Peru opened the ceremony with a traditional Chinese ceremony that symbolized fortune and prosperity. The Peruvian Embassy political counselor in China, Jaime Casafranca, Peruvian Commercial counselor in China, Diana Pita, and a representative of Promperú, Igor Rojas attended the opening event.

More than 500 participants gave a warm welcome to the Peruvian fashion committee; visitors attending the event included experts from the textile sector, Chinese buyers, Peruvian companies, as well as important media.

The highlighting moment in Peru Moda Asia 2017 was the Alpaca of Peru fashion parade showcasing 4 collections, 34 items in total which included jackets, stoles and skirts with Andean designs inspired by the dances of the Colca valley. Such events put Peru as the focus of attention for international investors.

The activity provides a major networking opportunity for Peruvian clothing exporters, as well as a chance to promote Alpaca del Peru ('Peruvian Alpaca') sector brand.

The most renowned Chinese companies at the event included Snow Lotus, a company that produces cashmere knitted clothing; and Jing Dong (JD), one of the most important e commerce platforms in China. Both enterprises held meetings with Promperu where they discussed the possibility of creating a commercial alliance to promote alpaca products.

Peru Moda fairs are not only a promising commercial platform, it is also a great opportunity to share the Peruvian culture through clothes designs to the world. The Peruvian textile industry offers comfortable, original and trendy clothing. They combine ancient techniques with modern manufacturing processes and meet Fair Trade Standards.

The trade-promotion platform is organized by PromPeru and Peru's Trade Offices (OCEX) in Japan, South Korea and China.
