Leading sustainable marketplace platform, offering a highly curated selection of unique and verified earth-ethical goods, Cerqular, has raised the necessary seed funding to launch its sustainable commerce platform.
Cerqular is dedicated to "end-to-end radical sustainability and guiltless commerce," and has a developing ecosystem of sustainable and ethical goods available on its platform. More than 48,000 products are available on the marketplace, including items for the home, fashion, beauty, vintage, and gender-neutral items.
Green Space Investments, a sustainability-focused fund, led the round. Angel investors were also present. Cerqular intends to use its new funds to expand its seller base and develop its platform, as well as pursue B Corp certification.
David Friedrichs, CEO of Cerqular, said that navigating a world that has been greenwashed can be difficult. Sustainable product shopping should be quick, easy, enjoyable, and safe. Cerqular was founded to "eliminate the guesswork and give consumers a simple and affordable method to live a more environmentally conscious life. Every purchase made through the user-friendly portal contributes to the mainstreaming of sustainable living."
The platform's commitment to sustainability includes environmental as well as social responsibilities. Over 80% of the platform's companies are owned by women, and it has teamed with Sendle, a carbon-neutral delivery service, to keep its goal of having a net-zero carbon footprint alive.
The company has announced the start of its second round of funding.
