CDP names Lenzing as one of the most sustainable companies worldwide

The Lenzing Group, a global leader in wood-based specialty fibers, has been recognized by the CDP, a global environmental non-profit organization, for its leadership in corporate sustainability, earning a spot on its prestigious ‘A List’ for combating climate change and protecting water security and forests.

Lenzing is a global leader in corporate environmental ambition, action, and openness, with considerable proven action on climate, water security threats, and deforestation. According to Lenzing, the world’s economy looks to CDP as the gold standard of environmental reporting since it has the largest and most comprehensive information on corporate and city action.

In 2021, CDP’s platform was used by over 590 investors with over $110 trillion in assets and 200 big purchasers with $5.5 trillion in procurement spending to obtain data on environmental impacts, risks, and opportunities. A total of 13,000 businesses answered, which is a new record.

Cord Prinzhorn, CEO of the Lenzing Group, said that they’re ecstatic to have surpassed their prior year’s fantastic ratings. The triple ‘A’ rating demonstrates that they are already on a very good track with their sustainability strategy, and it inspires them to stay on track and expand further so that they may embrace a CO2-neutral future as soon as possible. The textile and nonwoven industries must evolve, and they are certain that they cannot ignore the inherent climate benefits of wood-based cellulosic fibers. This is why they’ve set lofty sustainability goals for themselves and are investing heavily to achieve them.

Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP, said that congratulations to all of this year’s ‘A’ List firms. One of the most significant actions corporations can take is to lead on environmental transparency and action, especially in the year of COP26 and the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. Climate change, water insecurity, and deforestation pose a significant danger to businesses, and we know that the benefits of action significantly outweigh the risks of inactivity. For attaining global objectives for a net-zero, natural positive, and fair future, private sector leadership is critical. “Our ‘A’ List honors those businesses that are taking steps today to position themselves to succeed in the future economy.

In Lenzing Group’s sustainability plan, sustainable wood and pulp procurement, as well as responsible water stewardship, are two significant priority areas. By pursuing sustainable procurement based on environmental credentials, as well as responsible and efficient use of these valuable resources, the Lenzing Group bears responsibility. To create dissolving wood pulp for fiber manufacturing, biorefinery products, and bioenergy, Lenzing’s biorefinery method ensures that 100% of wood ingredients are utilized.
