Carter’s commits to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040

Carter’s Inc, the largest branded marketer in North America of apparel exclusively for babies and young children, has announced that it is committed to minimizing its negative environmental effect in its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report. By 2040, the corporation intends to achieve net-zero emissions.

Carter's just got approval for science-based reduction goals including pledging to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 from the base year of 2019. According to the corporation, Carter's will also encourage suppliers who account for 77% of its spending on goods and services to develop their own science-based goals by 2027.

Carter's contributed $10 million to local projects in 2021. By 2030, the firm promises to enhance the wellbeing of at least 10 million households. It has committed to creating a supplier diversity initiative to aid communities of color, in addition to nearly increasing racial and ethnic diversity at vice-president levels.

In order to become the top sustainable children's brand, it has also prioritized the expansion of its environmentally friendly Little Planet brand. The company unveiled recycled polyester-based goods in 2021.

Antonio Robinson, senior VP of corporate social responsibility, said that as the top business catering to families with young children, Carter's aims to motivate the next generation, and they keep making significant strides to increase their development with regard to their sustainability, community, and environmental goals. Their annual CSR Report serves as a benchmark while reinforcing their continuous commitment to moving their business ahead, improving their societal impact, and lowering their environmental footprint.
