Buyer-seller meet held to promote traditional attire of Manipur

Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans CS Ltd organized a buyer and seller meet between Senapati district Handloom Clusters and entrepreneurs of the state to promote the traditional attire of Senapati district at the National and international market.

The buyer-seller meet was attended by 7 handloom clusters from Willong area, Purul area, Tumuyon Khullen area, Lakhamai area, Khonglong area, Saranamai area, and Kangpokpi area. Ten entrepreneurs namely Rani Handloom Industry, Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai, Imphal East, Bimolata Creation, Nagamapal, Ketawn, Yumnam Leikai, Nambul Mapal, KB Philanthropy, Khabam Lamkhai, SP Embroidery Centre, Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Lairenjam Leirak, Pureiromba Muga & Silk Weavers CS Ltd, Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Imphal Handloom, Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai, Poineer Women’s Welfare Association, Keishamthong Laisom Leirak, Puthiba Leirak Muga and Silk Cooperative Society Ltd, Khurai, Uchekon Nongpok Takhok Mapal Women Welfare Association, Checkon.

Ng Bimolata Devi, Bimolata Creation entrepreneur, appealed the handloom clusters to diversify their products not only in clothing but also to other products so as to attract more customers at the National and international level markets.

Stating that handloom products of Manipur are popular worldwide, Bimolata said that there are huge demands for Manipur handloom products from Nigeria, Canada and other counties.

Delighted to see women putting efforts to be self reliant, Jacintha Lazarus expressed her gratitude to the organizers for bringing all the handloom firms together to improve the products' accessibility.

The event was organized under the sponsorship of Development Commissioner of Handloom, Ministry of Textile, Government of India, New Delhi, the programme was graced by Jacintha Lazarus, DC, Senapati district, Apinao Muivah, General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Senapati and M Satyabhama Devi, president, Manipur Apex Handloom Weaver’s and Handicrafts Artisans CS Ltd as the presidium members at Tungjoy Baptist Women Hall, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati district
