Brugnoli introduces bio-based Br4/E1 fabric

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-03-18 13:56:59 – Germany

Brugnoli is set to present its new Br4/E1 technical fabric, developed in collaboration with Fulgar and The Lycra Company, at Performance Days in Munich. This new development highlights progress in bio-based textiles by combining advanced materials and production methods to deliver strong performance with a lower environmental impact.

The Br4/E1 fabric is made with 89 percent bio-based content while still offering important features such as stretch, comfort, durability, and a good fit. The fabric brings together technologies from all three partner companies, each contributing to its overall performance and sustainability.

At the core of the fabric is Brugnoli’s Br4 technology, a patented process designed for elastic polyamide fabrics. This method helps reduce water and energy use by up to 20 percent during dyeing and finishing compared to traditional processes.

The fabric also uses Evo yarn developed by Fulgar. This yarn is a fully bio-based polyamide made from renewable sources such as castor oil and industrial corn. Another key component is Lycra EcoMade fibre from The Lycra Company, a bio-based elastane made from about 70 percent renewable industrial corn. This fibre provides stretch and recovery while reducing carbon emissions.
