Brooks Running to start resale to promote sustainability

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-07-19 17:37:55 – USA

Brooks Running is working to curb its carbon footprint by launching the secondhand running shoe program in collaboration with Trove.

The company recently started a section on its website called “ReStart” where customers can buy gently-used running shoes in both men’s and women’s categories. The goal of this initiative is to keep the company's product on the run for as long as possible while also promoting sustainability.

The company has also mapped out its greenhouse gas footprint in the past couple of years to use the findings to generate ways to reduce emissions by 2030. The goal of the company is to become net-zero by 2040 and use more recycled materials in its products. It is working more on circular design as it wants to sell a fully-circular running shoe by the end of the decade.

The company has worked on ways to prolong its products’ life cycles for many years now. However, it began working with Trove on ReStart about 12 months ago. The company is still collecting data on the ReStart program to know more methods to evolve the program in the future.
