Boyish Jeans to attain supply chain transparency

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2020-07-24 12:09:35 – USA

The L.A based brand Boyish Jeans have just gotten more transparent. The women-centric brand which was founded in 2018 has been committed to sustainability and has newly introduced supply-chain tracing company Retraced GmbH’s blockchain-based transparency feature to its e-commerce website.

This new feature allows consumers to view a detailed report of the brand’s sustainable supply-chain partners Bossa, Strom Denim and Lenzing. These partners have also joined this e-commerce platform. Boyish worked with Retrace on adding the three partners to the system by collecting information on their production methods and verifying their certification.

The goal set by the company is to ensure that their entire supply chain is mapped and communicates so that each product page contains the plugin feature by the end of 2020.

Jordan Nodarse, Boyish Jeans founder and creative director, took the label’s partnership public with Retraced earlier this month during the Kingpins24 panel. He also added that it was essential to be totally transparent by the denim industry.

During the panel, he also stated that it was easy to identify companies that aren’t sustainable by looking at their transparency. He also goes on to explain how if a company doesn’t have a sustainable report, measure their carbon emission, or explain where they have sourced everything from they are sending red flags to their consumers.

To educate consumers about the product journey, the production process endured creating each item and the environmental impacts of all the products the Retraced plugin is now live on the e-commerce site. Each of these stages are mapped out to make it easier for the consumer to understand. The company Nodarse also hopes to see other companies take these responsible steps.

Jordan Nodarse also states that as a sustainable brand that has always been transparent they realized that they could reach higher levels of transparency in their supply chain to provide consumers with more information about the products before purchase. He also hopes that more brands join Retraced in this effort to shed light on the impacts of the industry.
