BGMEA Garments Village
The BGMEA Garment Village in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN), Chittagong is making good progress in solving its ongoing problems.
After a long wait, the development work has finally started in the area. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has committed to slowly providing important services like roads, drainage systems, and treatment plants for waste.
Abdullah Al Mahmood Farooq, the director of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar Development Project, said that now investors can build factories because development is happening. He also said that gas and electricity will be available in about seven months.
Investors are also excited and waiting for the start of building factories. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) officially began the development work on July 21st. They plan to finish this work in about two years.
The BGMEA Garment Village is going to be built on a big piece of land, about 500 acres in size. Around 321 acres of this land will be used for making garment factories. The rest of the land will be used for important things like roads, drainage systems, treatment plants for waste, electricity, gas, and water.
