Better Cotton to host Cotton + Climate Action conference

Better Cotton has announced that from June 22 to 23, it will organize a worldwide conference addressing environment and industrial challenges in Malmö, Sweden.

Cotton and Climate Action is the focus of this year’s in-person event, and a lineup of speakers has already been announced, including Ikea, Cotton 2040, Walmart, Forum of the Future, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The conference will cover a variety of topics within the theme, such as supply chain traceability, climate change capacity development, greenwashing, abuse of data, and impact investment, which will be led by Alan McClay, CEO of Better Cotton.

McClay, said that transforming the cotton sector is not the job of one organization alone. He is delighted that they can finally bring players from across the cotton industry together in an in-person event. Their business has been investing extensively in climate resilience for several years, yet roughly half of the 350 million people who rely on cotton production are in danger from climate change. They need to show farmers, in particular, that employing more sustainable techniques will provide them with actual benefits — both monetary and in terms of enhancing the health of the land. From gender and social inequality to money and traceability, there are a slew of concerns to address.

He added that a wide range of concerns must be addressed, ranging from gender and social inequality to financing and traceability. They are looking forward to delving deeper into these critical topics in Sweden.

Attendees will be able to hear from cotton growers, including those affiliated with the Better Cotton organization, India’s Balubhai Parmar, and Lacy Cotter Vardeman from the United States, who will provide keynote remarks.
