Beni launches browser extension that streamlines secondhand shopping

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-09-02 06:21:04 – USA

Circular solutions provider,  Beni, has announced the launch of a free and easy-to-use Chrome browser extension that streamlines purchasing for used items.

Beni intercepts online shopping queries with the stroke of a button and connects users to the same or related goods on popular secondhand marketplaces including The RealReal, Rent the Runway, Vestiaire Collective, eBay, Kidizen, and more. Beni makes it easier for consumers to locate and purchase used goods that are more affordable and have less of an impact on the environment.

Sarah Pinner, CEO and co-founder of Beni, said that their objective is to make resale just as quick and convenient as buying new. While most people nowadays are aware of the financial and environmental advantages of resale, finding pre-owned things still takes too much time and effort. Beni provides the first solution to this issue, streamlining the secondhand buying process. By doing this, they hope that buying used goods will eventually become the norm, benefiting their wallets, closets, and the environment.

Beni is motivated by the challenge of enabling a world where 1 in 5 garments are sold through circular business models by 2030 in order to advance the circular economy and lower emissions associated to the fashion industry. With 93 percent of US shoppers open to buying secondhand (up from 45 percent in 2016), the fashion resale industry has grown more popular, with any previous stigma virtually eliminated. Customers now have access to an ever-growing range of resale choices, including those from brands.

Celine Mol, CTO and Co-founder, Beni, said they built Beni to enable buyers who see the benefits of secondhand but just don't know where to start. Secondhand shopping hasn't always been simple, but with Beni, shoppers can find a variety of dependable resale items at excellent prices, from designer purses to outdoor clothing. Imagine receiving the same brand at a lower price, a better brand at a lower price, or even a better brand at a lower price, all while reducing your influence on the environment. This will be a big relief, especially as consumer prices continue to climb.
