French luggage designer Chapoget has partnered with Bcomp for its advanced ampliTex flax fibre composites to develop the Cabin Trunk, a modern reinterpretation of the classic travel trunk. Bcomp’s natural fibre composite technology forms the structural base of the design. The project highlights how natural materials can be used effectively in high-end and sustainable luxury products.
The Cabin Trunk is designed to be lightweight, durable, and resistant to shocks, while also being fully recyclable. The luggage piece can be customised with adjustable components and retractable wheels, allowing it to serve multiple purposes. It can function as a mobile desk or even a wardrobe, combining classic design with modern practicality. In 2025, Chapoget received recognition for the design at the A’Design Award.
The material offers strong performance while also providing an attractive natural appearance. The flax used in the composites is grown in Western Europe, and when processed into ampliTex fabric, it creates a distinct visual texture that differentiates it from conventional materials.
