Utramid Ccycled
BASF, a global leader in chemical manufacturing, has unveiled its latest innovation in sustainable polyamide products with the certification of Ultramid® Ccycled® as Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) for textile applications. This milestone enables manufacturers to market textiles produced using certified recycled raw materials, furthering the industry’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The production of Ultramid Ccycled is rooted in chemical recycling, a process that transforms challenging plastic waste, such as used tires, into high-quality polyamide PA6 and PA6.6. Through ChemCycling®, BASF integrates recycled raw materials into its production network, employing a mass balance approach to assign them to Ultramid Ccycled products.
Dr. Dominik Winter, Head of Business Management Polyamides Europe at BASF, expressed pride in offering Ultramid Ccycled with RCS certification, emphasizing the expansion of BASF’s sustainable product portfolio for the textile industry.
In line with its “choose to reduce” approach, BASF empowers customers to make environmentally conscious choices by offering products that utilize recycled materials, thus reducing their carbon footprint without compromising quality or performance.
With Ultramid Ccycled’s RCS certification, BASF reaffirms its commitment to advancing sustainable practices and driving positive change in the textile industry, paving the way for a more environmentally conscious future.
