Bangladesh and the Netherlands have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the circular economy, with a particular focus on making Bangladesh’s textile and ready-made garment (RMG) industries more sustainable and competitive.
The agreement will support collaboration across the textile value chain, including better use of resources, waste reduction, recyclable production methods and greener industrial development, according to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce.
The two countries have already identified several areas for cooperation, according to the Dutch minister. She said the next step would be to turn these discussions into practical measures and expressed interest in expanding collaboration through international platforms.
The MoU is expected to create new opportunities for green technologies, innovation and sustainable production in Bangladesh’s textile and RMG sectors. It could also encourage more efficient resource use and help the country strengthen its position in international markets.
