B.I.G. Yarns, based in Wielsbeke, Belgium, is launching the ColorMind two-step polyamide 6 yarn collection that gives manufacturers of high-end loop-pile contract and industrial carpets more design freedom.

Designers are encouraged to collaborate together with B.I.G. Yarns experts to realise new designs, which will be available from mid-June 2021 in both traditional and EqoCycle 75 per cent recycled material yarns. Combinations with varying degrees of twisting and air entanglement, as well as the use of up to six colours at once, expand modelling possibilities.

Pre-defined colours are often in stock in the ColorMind colour bank, resulting in shorter lead times. Customized lot sizes and bobbin lengths will also help manufacturers increase their flexibility.

B.I.G. Yarns used the invention to create its own Optica dot and Illusion wave effects as a taster of the possible paths opening up for loop-pile carpets.

ColorMind PA6 yarns are made from a special solution-dyed nylon yarn that meets Class 33 requirements (heavy commercial use). The EqoCycle yarn variant is mostly made from post-industrial waste and provides a drop-in circular alternative for contract and automotive carpet producers to reduce the environmental impact of their end carpets.
