Ayurveda attires on display at exhibiton cum sale held at Gauhar Mahal, Bhopal

A four-day exhibition-cum-sale ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ is organized by ministry for textile, government of India and Regional office of Textile Commissioner, Indore for the first time to promote powerloom and textile products directly from weaver to buyers. The event was inaugurated by Mayor Alok Sharma on Friday at Gauhar Mahal in Bhopal.

As many as 55 entrepreneurs of power loom /textile from different states including MP, UP, J$K, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan have participated in it, in which they can sell their products to buyers directly.

Under the meet, the Ayurveda Vastra (herbal fabrics) and vegetable-dyed garments are on display which is one of the major attractions of the fair apart from this a wide range of garment and home décor products including sari, suits, dress material, bed sheets, towel and carpet showcased.

Darshit Joshi, Technical Consultant of Sanjeevani Vastra, Gujarat, said that they displayed here 45 Ayurveda Vastra made of 100 percent cotton yarn including home décor items like bed sheets, pillow and quilt covers. They also have men, women and kid’s wear including undergarments, night suits, kurta-paijama, shirt, kutri and dress material.

Various herbs and plants have been used for dyeing these Ayurveda Vastra including turmeric, pomegranate and onion for yellow and saffron, pomegranate and neem for ivory, alovera for white, red sandal for red, red sandal wood for pink, indigo for blue, Tulsi for green et al. On other hand, the Vastra has immense benefits as it cures diseases like arthritis, asthma, diabetes, skin infection, hypertension and even for boosting immunity, said Joshi.

He further elaborated that the vastra is categories in three segments. The first segment is premium segment which will be priced high and costly medicinal rich herbs. Saffron-dyed and golden leaf and thread’s products come under the segment and the price range of the products start from Rs 25,000 to one lakh.

Whereas Semi precious and super segment will has costing for middle class and common man and its price range starts from Rs 1,000 and goes up to Rs 25,000. They are displaying their products for the first time in the fair but are only for display not for sale.

He added that it is still under evolution and will finalize at the end of the month by online marketing first, later they will display it on their own stores in every states.

Students of Nutan college presented some cultural performances at the expo.
