Avavav, OnceMore launch recycled viscose garments

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-03-13 14:22:38 – Italy

Avavav has continued its exploration of innovative materials by presenting new garments made with recycled viscose pulp from OnceMore during Milan Fashion Week. The fabrics used in the garments contain dissolving pulp created from a mix of post-consumer textile waste and wood sourced from responsibly managed forests in Sweden.

Creative director Beate Skonare Karlsson explained that young fashion brands often face difficulties when trying to access innovative and more sustainable materials. She noted that such materials frequently involve higher costs and minimum production volumes. However, with the support of OnceMore, Avavav has been able to use these fabrics in several of its core designs while continuing to develop collections with more responsible material choices.

According to OnceMore, the dissolving pulp used in the fabrics can include up to 50 percent recycled textile fibres. Based on Higg MSI benchmarks, the material also has the potential to lower carbon emissions by as much as 30 percent compared with traditional viscose production.

The textiles were developed together with New Focus Textiles, a partner in the OnceMore Together network. The materials were used in several items from Avavav’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, including the brand’s well-known cutout ribcage button-up shirt. These pieces mark the second stage of the collaboration between the two companies.

Ida Fager Stark said that the collaboration aims to show that viscose made with recycled textile waste can be successfully used in high-fashion garments without compromising design or quality. She added that working with Avavav is valuable because the brand not only supports this idea but also demonstrates the creative possibilities of such materials.
