Astral, known for its commitment to sustainability, has announced its first hemp-based apparel collection, the Performance Hemp line. This new collection offers an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based activewear, leveraging the natural performance properties and sustainability of hemp. The decision to incorporate hemp was driven by its superior performance properties and environmental benefits.

Philip Curry, Founder and CEO of Astral, highlighted the environmental and consumer health drawbacks of over-reliance on petroleum-based materials in technical fabrics. Astral's new hemp-based apparel aims to address these issues by providing a more sustainable and healthier alternative.

The Performance Hemp line offers natural cooling and breathability, UPF sun protection, and durability. Unlike petroleum-based materials that often require antimicrobial treatments, Astral's hemp apparel is naturally odor-resistant. The clothing becomes softer with each wash, maintaining its durability without sacrificing comfort. Designed for active and outdoor use, the collection includes hooded sweatshirts and shorts, available in three color options for both men and women.

Daniel Windham, Astral’s Product Line Manager, emphasized the brand’s commitment to creating high-quality, majority-hemp products that maximize the technical qualities and robustness of the material. By using regenerative materials, Astral aims to produce technical apparel that remains cool, odor-resistant, and durable, avoiding the degradation commonly associated with treated polyesters.
