The Arvind Store, part of the Arvind Group, one of India's largest integrated textile and apparel companies with a presence in branded garments, is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of textiles products. It announced the launch of a new vertical, â€œArvindâ€, offering ready-to-wear fashion apparel for men on Monday.
The ready-to-wear brand called Arvind, which will have clothes under three categories of "work, leisure and ceremonial." Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director, Arvind Ltd, announcing the launch said that these garments will be priced upwards of Rs. 1,299.
These will include blazers, bundis, kurtas, polos shirts, shorts, suits and bandhgalas. These will be available at all The Arvind Stores in Gujarat, Karnataka and flagship stores in other states.
They have a very large retail platform (The Arvind Store), and such a platform to sell their new ready-to-wear brand is very helpful. They will be immediately opening up to customers through this channel that is well established today, unlike 10 years ago, Lalbhai said.
They want to stand with innovation, and their new brand is about the marriage of innovation with Indian pride. They are expanding in many directions. From shirting fabric brand, they are now full lifestyle brand, making presence through their 10,000 points of sale and 170 brand stores which were started five years ago.
In terms of pure growth, the newly launched brand will outpace the companys fabric business
Arvind has a portfolio of owned and licensed brands. Its own brands include Flying Machine, among others, while its licensed product brands include big global names, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Arrow, Gant, Nautica, IZOD, US Polo Assn, Hanes, Sephora, The Children's Place and Gap, and Aeropostale.
Arvind had a turnover of nearly US$ 1.3 billion in FY 2015-16 and is now looking at a turnover of Rs 100 crore in the next 3-5 years in a $10 billion organized retail brand market which is growing at a rate of 15-16 percent year on year.
