Archroma
Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals focused on sustainable solutions, has unveiled the NTR Printing System, making bio-based pigment printing commercially viable for the first time. This system, made from renewable raw materials and designed with safer chemistry, helps apparel and textile brands lower their environmental impact while achieving rich black shades that offer both comfort and durability.
Archroma’s NTR Printing System is the first to use renewable feedstock across all three components—pigment dispersion, binder, and fixing agent. This innovation ensures strong wet and dry rub fastness, while also providing exceptional softness on various fabrics. The system is suitable for multiple applications, including printing, coating, and continuous pigment dyeing, offering excellent efficiency during production.
“These features make the NTR Printing System perfect for the competitive denim market, where sustainability, comfort, and durability are key; for knits, where a soft handfeel is crucial; and for babywear, where both softness and safety are paramount,” said Joaquin Femat, Market Segment Director for Printing at Archroma.
“This breakthrough is part of Archroma’s ‘PLANET CONSCIOUS+’ roadmap, which focuses on creating revolutionary products and technologies with better sustainability features than current market alternatives. This helps brands and mills stand out by meeting both business and sustainability goals,” Femat added.
“With the launch of the NTR Printing System, Archroma offers the most comprehensive portfolio of innovative printing solutions, tailored to meet individual customer needs,” Femat said. “We have a long history of innovation in pigment printing, including the introduction of the first formaldehyde-free pigment printing system in 2012.”
