Anti-virus fabric created by Taiana for multiple use

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2020-06-05 08:45:14 – United Kingdom

Kinetech Lab, the sports division of Italian fabric maker Tessitura Taiana Virgilio, has generated an"anti-virus" material designed for sportswear and other garments, in addition to medical wear.

The company states it is effective against COVID-19 along with other viruses within just a few minutes.

The high number of yarns per square centimeter combined with mild yarns means that it filters 99.8% of particulates using a size of 4-5 microns, compared with the 97 percent of a surgical mask, it asserts. The bacteriostatic and also the antibacterial properties are accomplished by using a silver dye and a remedy used for medical applications.

The company said, "This therapy, initially developed to stop the spread of SARS, attracts the virus, interrupts its viral membrane and finally kills it. Along with this, the bacteriostatic properties operate in combination with the fabric structure to maximize the antimicrobial effect for a prolonged time.

"Additionally, it may be used also in several trendy ways since it's available equally in solid colors and in a white PFP model, suitable for sublimation."
