Following months of research and testing, Alsico and Sixone have successfully produced Alsico’s first closed-loop fabric, made entirely from recycled materials. The duo has recycled used polyester-blend workwear from the company’s ARX garment collection facility into polyester chips on an industrial scale.
Sixone’s recycling technology converts post-consumer textiles into polyester chips, which form the base of Alsico’s new garments. Using a molecular analysis process, Sixone identifies the optimal recycling conditions for each fabric type, enabling it to extract pure polyester even from complex blends.
This innovative approach allows the recycler to overcome traditional barriers related to fibre types and colours, giving new life to textiles that were previously considered unrecyclable. The finished garment, developed under Alsico’s ARX initiative has been tested and approved to meet the performance and quality standards of the company’s workwear products.
“Our goal is to build a fully circular supply chain where Alsico garments are collected, recycled, and reborn as new products,” said Vincent Siau, Head of the Alsico Academy. “The creation of our first material and finished garment using polyester chips from our partnership with Sixone is a major step forward, proving that circularity can become a standard in the textile industry.”
