Allsteel has introduced Levra, a new task chair designed to combine ergonomic performance with textile innovation and responsible material choices for modern workplaces. Developed in collaboration with ITO Design, Levra features an ergonomic design supported by human-focused materials. Its key feature is a first-of-its-kind, patent-pending frameless back structure made using structural knit material.
During the development process, the knit material used in Levra’s back was treated as an important part of the chair’s design. It helps provide structural strength, flexibility and a lighter visual appearance.
The suspended back reduces the hard appearance and feel often associated with traditional chair frames. Integrated lumbar support provides comfort and physical support while allowing natural movement. The back is produced using a precision-knit, zero-waste manufacturing process. The material is made specifically to the chair’s required shape and size, removing the need for cutting and reducing fabric waste.
The precision-knitted back is made from 100% recycled materials, including upcycled SEAQUAL® yarn. The back upright, arm uprights and base are made from aluminium containing 98% recycled content. The chair is also SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certified for low emissions, helping support better indoor air quality.
