Sustainable footwear brand, Allbirds, has partnered with fashion designer Rosie Assoulin, to launch a playful slider for summer.
The Allbirds x Rosie Assoulin Sugar Slider was inspired by their "common respect for natural materials" and "synergistic desire for sustainability," according to the footwear manufacturer.
On June 15, Assoulin released a Sugar Slider inspired by nostalgic summer memories from her youth, with her typical strong statements and unusual patterns in cherry and pistachio colorways.
The unisex sliders are manufactured with Allbirds' SweetFoam, a sugarcane-based foam that provides customers with a comfortable shoe that is also environmentally friendly.
Assoulin said that they’re pleased to join with Allbirds on these delightful, summer Sugar Sliders! Allbirds is doing incredible work in the material innovation field, which piqued their interest and drove their desire to collaborate with them.
Assoulin added that they've been working on bringing this relationship to reality for about two years now - it started as a fun and important effort in the early days of the epidemic. During this time, she was watching documentaries with her kids and learned a lot about regenerative farming and carbon sequestration, and they were really interested in these methods, so working on this project researching the usage of new and forward-thinking materials has been fascinating. In the spirit of summer, they wanted to bring these materials and this aesthetic to life with a little of exuberance, humor, and whimsy.
To celebrate the collaboration, Allbirds and Assoulin have announced a donation to two organizations: the Rodale Institute, which educates farms about regenerative approaches, and the Ron Finley Project, which converts food deserts into food sanctuaries.
The Allbirds x Rosie Assoulin sliders cost 60 pounds and can be purchased from allbirds.co.uk.
