Alibaba Group Holding Limited has set a goal of becoming carbon neutral in its activities by 2030.

For direct greenhouse emissions from sources controlled or owned by the group, the group has committed to a carbon neutrality objective of 2030.

It will also target emissions from assets that are not owned or managed by the company but have an indirect impact on its supply chain.

Alibaba Group intends to develop and manage decarbonization projects in a methodical and science-based manner. The organization has also unveiled a new three-tier Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) structure to manage its carbon neutrality ambitions and other ESG objectives. Alibaba Group intends to publish its ESG report yearly beginning in 2022.

Daniel Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group, said that they hope to be a force for constructive, innovative change in society. With their newly suggested aims, they will use their unique power as a platform operator to mobilize actions and behavioral changes among customers, merchants, and partners in China and around the world.
