AGY, a leading U.S. manufacturer of high-performance glass fibre reinforcements based in Aiken, South Carolina, has partnered with A+ Composites, a custom thermoplastic tape producer from Weselberg, Germany, to launch a new range of ultra-lightweight, high-performance thermoplastic tapes.

These innovative unidirectional tapes combine AGY’s newly developed single-end S2 Glass roving with advanced LM PAEK and PEI resin systems. Designed for both wrapped and layered composite uses, the tapes offer exceptional strength, stiffness, and impact resistance, making them ideal for aerospace, defence, and high-end industrial applications where reducing weight without compromising structural performance is essential.

Key features of the new tape line include high mechanical strength, excellent thermal and electrical resistance, and improved fatigue life. The continuous alignment of fibres ensures efficient load transfer in one direction, while AGY’s S2 Glass enhances durability and performance across critical metrics.

These tapes are also thermoformable, allowing for reshaping, making them a sustainable option for repairable part design. With no need for curing, they enable rapid production cycles and are compatible with automated, out-of-autoclave manufacturing methods.
