AGI Denim launches Regenerative Cotton Farm Project

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-05-10 16:41:53 – Pakistan

On Wednesday, AGI Denim, the vertical denim manufacturer, announced the AGI Denim Regenerative Cotton Farm Project, a partnership with the Rural Education and Economic Development Society (REEDS) aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices directly on farms.

Regenerative agriculture focuses on reducing chemical usage, improving soil health, and preserving biodiversity. The project will work with REEDS to assist 1,300 cotton farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture principles and practices, fostering a deeper understanding of its positive impact on ecosystems among all participating farmers, as stated by AGI.

REEDS is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the socio-economic needs of marginalized populations and is also a key partner in the Soorty Regenagri Initiative.

Hasan Javed, AGI Denim's executive director, expressed the company's commitment to reducing environmental impact through a more localized supply chain that empowers sourcing communities. By keeping operations closer to home, AGI Denim aims to create more opportunities for those involved in denim production.

Additionally, AGI Denim is seeking RegenAgri certification through Control Union, a globally recognized certification body, to ensure the credibility and integrity of the project.
